This resource pack is for secondary teachers bringing pupils to see the show ‘Martyr’ at the Unicorn Theatre in Sep/Oct 2015.

The show is about a teenage boy who starts to live his life strictly by the word of the bible and becomes very extreme in his views and inflexible in his literal interpretation of the text. It explores how his parents, teachers and peers react to his strong beliefs and asks us to consider what happens when religious belief and personal freedom clash in a multi-faith society.

The resources contain information about the show, interviews with the creative teams and an overview of the classroom activities that will be added to the pack in July. The activities can be adapted for use by Drama, English and Religious Studies teachers.
