How Walter and Luis Alvarez examined evidence of iridium in the KT boundary and came up with the idea of a massive meteorite impact at Chixculub which caused the mass extinction of the dinosaurs. This is presented as to support the C2C in QLD for the Australian curriculum. The intention is to illustrate how scientists gather evidence, consult with experts in their own and other fields, research previously published work in books, journals and on the web. They then publish their hypotheses for peer review as well as discussing and evaluating explanations which differ from their own.
