This is a comprehension resource including all you need to teach at least one back to school, get to know you activity with your new class as well as the foundations for a display that celebrates diversity within your classroom.

In this activity, Our Growing Together Garden, the children will consider what it means to be a class then they will each create a flower with their face in. In the petals, they will consider adjectives that describe themselves as a person, a learner and a good class member. Throughout the year, you can add to the display by adding leaves which detail what you have learned together e.g. We learned to share.

Learning Objectives:
Reading and Writing
• To apply phonic knowledge to decode words
• To form lower-case letters of the correct size relative to one another
• To listen to and discuss stories
Art
• To develop a range of art and design techniques using colour
