Updated 12 October 2020. This lesson on body maths is about scatter graphs: looking at the work of Claudia Zaslavsky (Africa Counts – excellent book on mathematics from Africa) to introduce the Chagga people of Tanzania. Other links are made to Vitruvius, Leonardo da Vinci and the fathom. All you need is included in the ActivInpire, PowerPoint and Excel files that can be accessed from this file. Excel file allows input of pupil measurements that can collected at home (for Covid times) and will then create automatically scatter graphs. Worksheets included in this file.[https://spiremaths.co.uk/bmscatter/]

Sounds like a really good lesson. However the links to download the interactive pp are not working?

I really like the real life context here - certainly could be the start of a data handling unit exploring BMI and correlation etc. but would equally lend itself to ratio and enlargement.... Any chance of having access to the original worksheet files as well? Thanks for your work : )

An interesting way of combining Citizenship and Maths that has potential to be an interactive and engaging way of teaching students to use scatter graphs.
