This 3 week unit of work was planned for Year 3 during the final summer term. It would also be suitable for Year 4. The aim of the unit is for the children to write their own exit chapter to add to Roald Dahl’s story. The unit begins by looking at the language Roald Dahl uses when creating his characters which leads onto the children creating their own character and inventing room. There is a focus of editing and improving a piece of writing, as well as a lesson on punctuating speech to ensure the children are secure in the rules before writing their own narrative. A story mountain is used to plan their own story and a lesson each day writing a different part (introduction, build-up, problem, resolution and ending).

I would be really interested to know if there are any resources to use with this planning as it has links and notes to slides but none available currently
