We were keen to separate Paper 1 and 2 from fieldwork units, and reduce workload, so I created this ‘mini unit’ for the department which includes:

Fieldwork data collection booklet, methods include: Pebble shape, angularity, wave count, beach profile and bipolar analysis. ‘Spot the engineering’, fieldwork sketch space and risk assessment table included for activities to fill gaps if required.

50 page workbooklet (integrated titles, DINs, lesson tasks, exam questions and plenary tasks)

Knowledge organiser

Lessons 1-6:

  1. How do we set up a suitable enquiry question, link it to theory and evaluate risk?
  2. What are the different types of data and how do we construct our methodology?
  3. What are the different types of data presentation method, and why do we use them?
  4. How can our data sets be matched to appropriate data presentation techniques?
  5. How do we analyse and explain our results?
  6. What conclusions can we make from our analysis and how do we evaluate our enquiry?

This coastal fieldwork is based on the enquiry question '“Destructive waves are responsible for forming the beach at Budleigh Salterton” but would apply to any coastal setting. PDF and powerpoint versions are included in order to edit should you wish (enquiry location, school logos, DIN questions…)

All proceeds will help our evershrinking department budget, which I need to stop supplementing with my own money.
