How does the writer create tension?

A resource developed with an SEN GCSE class in mind, introducing the concept of the WJEC English Language skill 'Analysis' (could be easily adapted for other abilities, or even perhaps suitable for a Yr 9 class to introduce the skill.)

I started with a lesson looking at the 1st chapter of Jaws, which we used to create a tension graph. Then, we did a lesson on identifying and discussing the effect of rhetorical devices in creating tension, resulting in them completing a GCSE style 10 mark question.
