A cross-curricular maths activity inspired by Julia Donaldson's &'The Ladybird Who Heard&';. First we looked at the powerpoint, counted the spots on the ladybirds' wings and related this to doubling and halving. The children then made their own ladybirds out of bread (pre-cut into a circle with a cookie cutter), strawberry jam, a strawberry lace down the middle and chocolate drops placed symmetrically. They then completed the fact sheet about their ladybird (printed out on card and folded so it could stand up on a display).
