In this lesson children will learn all about Mayan written language, their hieroglyphics, glyphs and logograms.

After an engaging multimedia teaching input, they will explain their understanding of the objective and go on to draw comparisons with how we communicate in the 21st Century.

This is then followed by an activity that enables the children to design their own logograms/hieroglyphics in a Mayan style.

Complete 1hr lesson (could run to 90 mins) including...

- PowerPoint: starter activity, teaching input (with web resource and video links) and a plenary activity.

- Worksheet pack with two worksheets plus extension activity for any early finishers.

- Teachers' notes.

YouTube links are provided for videos but a website is provided for a video converter if your school doesn't have access.

Excellent resource! I was struggling to find a worthwhile activity for the Mayan writing system and this is just perfect for my year 6 class. Well worth the £1! Thank you.
