This outstanding lesson follows my Macbeth Rhyming Couplets Witches spell lesson. It builds upon children's knowledge of writing rhyming couplets to enable them to extend their learning to a sonnet structure, using an alternate (a/b/a/b) rhyme pattern with a couplet at the end.

This lesson focuses on upper key stage 2 children interest of the battle in Macbeth to learn how to write a sonnet - great to engage boy heavy classes as they describe the battle in the form of poetry.

Differentiated for your class, this lesson will enable LAP's to succeed in a group 'big writing format' using the writing frame which you can also download from my TES Shop, your MAP's to consolidate and explore their learning of different rhyme patterns and structures whilst your HAP's can challenge themselves to explore writing in Shakespeare's 'iambic pentameter'.

Not only this but the lesson plan links directly to new multiple UKS2 KPI's and objectives for writing and reading, meaning you can tick off lots of assessment for your pupils throughout the lesson.
