Similar to the other crossnumber with x on one side, print off the crossnumber for students to have a go at. I like crossnumbers because students can identify mistakes themselves if solutions are not fitting together. Don't forget to have the file open on your IWB so you can input answers at the end, the cells will turn green if they are correct. Although I try to ensure there are no mistakes, any that exist can open a discussion about what should have been there instead.

This looks brilliant! Will try it with my lower 10's and 11's. Thank you!

Used this in the computer room with middle set year 9, and they were very engaged.

Great! Used with my year 10s, I love that the numbers are large and non-standard, and the cells changing colour impressed them too! Thanks for sharing :)

I tried this with a low ability year 9 group as a starter. Each pair had to solve 2 clues and enjoyed typing the answer into the computer. A calculator was useful. It consolidated the previous lesson on this type of equation.
