Metre sticks or trundle wheels needed. Or any measuring tool such as lengths of string.
Students work in groups to measure selected sections of their playground. Can also then identify their own lengths to measure. Groups will also need to convert between units of measurement. Other extensions can be included such as working out the total lengths measured and finding the differences between lengths measured. Can also make links to area/perimeter, angles, scale drawing etc.
