Personally, I prefer to leave the posters a standard 8.5 x 11 size. My thinking is that I don't need someone to be able to read them from across the room. Instead I want them to be a resource students can use when browsing the library. Therefore, a standard size is perfect. The posters, however, can be enlarged.
