Odd Socks - A Story About Difference and Diversity

Odd Socks is a colourful story with pictures and text. It uses the metaphor of ‘odd socks’ to deal with cultural differences, intellectual differences, and physical differences. It was originally written to help the siblings of children with disabilities - however, the metaphor of ‘odd socks’ is broad enough to encompass a whole range of issues relating to diversity. Due to popular demand, this resource is now also avaliable as a powerpoint. It is the download labelled 'oddsockspdf'.

Thank you for sharing your work. This will be a great way of discussing differences with Y3.

This is a lovely resource which could be used in a variety of ways and for a number of situations, depending upon what you want to focus on with your school/class etc...

Congratulations-absolutely delightful; I'm going to use it with my Functional Skills classes when delivering Equality & Diversity.

Though this is aimed at diversity, I thought it might be a good resource to use with a Primary 3 class as the starting point for a series of lessons on bullying. It proved very effective - the children enjoyed the clear, bright visuals and the discussions on the points raised were entered into enthusiastically and fruitfully. Thanks for a very useful resource, Jo.
