RE SMART & PPT What does it mean to be a Muslim in Britain today? PART ONE 5 lessons RE Today plans

RE SMART and PowerPoint Unit of 5 lessons plus all resources based on RE Today unit “What does it mean to be a Muslim in Britain today?” Please note that this resource is the first five lessons of the unit which is intended to be taught over two terms (See “What does it mean to be a Muslim in Britain today?” PART TWO for the next five lessons). However, each unit could be used as a stand alone unit.
Each lesson starts with a sticky knowledge retrieval quiz and vocabulary activity. The first lesson introduces the idea of the Five Pillars of Islam and the following lessons focus on one pillar in turn. Activities include a journey of life map; mind maps on Ramadan and Eid-ul-fitr; comprehensions based on traditional Islamic stories (such as The Two Brothers and Ibrahim and Ismail); a priorisation activity based on the story of Bilal; a diamond 9 prayer activity; independent research on Zakat; and group presentations on Ramadan and Eid-ul-fitr.

Lessons include videos, group/partner discussion, group tasks, individual tasks and making links to children’s own lives. All resources are included, and there is a printing requirement list for the whole unit. Please note - the SMART and PowerPoint contain the same content, but you need Notebook software to open SMART.
