I have written this musical production/parody of Romeo and Juliet for Year 6/Year 7 children to act out. For me it worked with two classes of 22 pupils, with one class playing the Montagues and the other class playing the Capulets, however it can easily be adapted to work for a one-form entry school. Alternatively, it can be used to teach Romeo and Juliet in class.
I am hugely passionate about children learning about Shakespeare at a young age and this cleverly condensed version of the original tragedy is accessible, fun and full of music and moments of mirth. It works all the better if Juliet is played by a boy.
I majored in Scriptwriting at university and see it as a release from the daily grind of teaching. Please use as you see best.
