In Technology’s Role in Current Events, learners research a topic related to technology’s role in current events, create a project, and present their findings.

Duration: 2-5 hours

This lesson is suitable for:

  • Key Stage 3
  • Key Stage 4
  • Post-16

Students use Docs, Search, Sheets, Slides, Sites.

The resource is video-based and features Free, ready-to-use lesson plans, rubrics to enable teachers to evaluate a student’s work across a variety of skills and levels of proficiency (i.e. beginner, developing, accomplished, and exemplary) and a dashboard to show how each student is progressing.

By the end of these lessons, students should be able to:

  • Explain technology’s role in current events to reveal how it both informs and transforms our world.
  • Identify and assess the risks, limits, and opportunities surrounding technology’s role in current events.
  • Explain the role of “citizen journalists” and their effect on current events.
  • Plan and employ effective research strategies to locate information and other resources for their intellectual or creative pursuits
  • Publish or present content that customises the message and medium for their intended audiences
