Students discuss what makes a community before inventing their own village. Students then assume their village character (I completed a 'Village Directory&' with students name, their character name and their job/ role within the village to stick into books which worked well).
All non-fiction tasks are completed in character. For example, an autobiography, an article for the village newspaper, a persuasive speech, a formal letter of complaint.
SOW includes differentiated writing frames and all worksheets/ resources to accompany lessons.
