A range of ideas for lessons based on building a description of a city and/or countryside setting in WW2. The descriptions could be used as openers in a story based around evacuees who were sent to live in a rural location. This is a tried and tested classroom resource.

Pupils should collect ideas from the pictures provided and use the model text to write an effective description.

A blank vocabulary grid and a copy of the success criteria for writing an effective description is also included. This resource could be used with older pupils.
