Get your class up and moving , preferably outside, to solve this mixed maths treasure trail! (All questions match the 2014 Year 3 curriculum requirements.)
How it works:
There are 16 questions on the 4 operations - times tables , fractions, time, measure .
Cut, then laminate the questions and dot the cards around your chosen work space in random order to form a treasure trail. Random order is important because the answer to each of the questions is found on the next question card in the left hand corner ( This forms the question card 'number'.)
Put children into pairs and arm them with a clipboard, sheet of paper with space for each question number and any workings and of course a pencil! Give each pair a different question numbers as a start point to avoid congestion!
( I always ask children to come and check with an adult before going to next question. This ensures that if they make a mistake, they don't spend ages trying to find a question number that doesn't exist, but also slows the racers down a little! )
I hope you enjoy it - please leave feedback!
