TICKING TEXTS 1

(1)
The 3 Ticking Texts books encourage early readers to understand texts. Book 1 is aimed at KS1 plus older pupils with literacy problems. Each book includes various types of short texts with a low reading level and a high interest level, and the format allows children with poor coordination/writing ability to concentrate solely on text comprehension skills. The sheets are useful for shared and guided reading and for homework and are also suitable for speaking and listening work. Discussion points and extension activities are included for each text. This is a useful resource for children who have ‘learnt to read’ and are now ‘reading to learn.’ Previously available through Easylearn.

Colourful semantics for CVC words SEN ASD

(1)
Colourful semantics to go with 23 CVC words. I split these into 4 words per week (one week, has 3 words) and we work on spelling these words and using them in sentences, but this can be easily adapted if you wanted to use more words per week. I have included colourful semantics boards, from the basic Who, What doing, What, to more complex Who, What doing, What, Where, Why. I have laminated these for my class and differentiate so some of the students complete only the 3 word sentences and some complete the 4 or 5 word sentences, but using the same pictures. I have included 3 pictures of examples of students using the boards and words (I hav blanked out student names)

Digital Classroom Interactive Reading Comprehension Story - Finish Line

(1)
Perfect to set up on Chromebooks. This is a great reading comprehension passage for your struggling boys who are just not motivated to read. Finish Line is the fiction story of a boy who is trying to find his own special talent in a family of many talents, who finds a dirt bike, fixes it up, and goes on to win at a dirt bike race, making new friends along the way. Each slide is a piece of the motocross story, and is followed by a slide of reading comprehension questions requiring thinking, evidence, and inference, as required by the rigor of today's standards. 22 questions in all, with an answer key at the end, so it can be self checking. Good for independent practice and test prep, and perfect for homeschool, too. If you have a boy who likes motocross bike racing, this is a great independent reading assignment to do at a computer station or on a Chromebook or iPad. It can also be shown in Google Slides. ©2017 HappyEdugator.

Listening Story + Read Along Text; The Stonecutter (Japanese Folktale)

(0)
Tale Time re-tells this classic Japanese folktale. Great for lower and upper KS2 whole class listening or small group listening. Ideal for children with additional needs, especially children with dyslexia or reluctant readers. This traditional tale from Asia tells of a Stonecutter who, unhappy with his lot, wishes to be the Mayor. Through the magic of story, his wish comes true. But the Stonecutter is never satisfied, he then wants to be King and when he sees the Sun has power over him, he sets his sights higher. The Stonecutter becomes the sun, a cloud, then a mountain and finally ends up right back where he started. The Stonecutter audio story for children is just over seven minutes in length. This circular story could be a great starter for a philosophy lesson, or a circle time discussion on desire and happiness. Or why not use it to start a drama lesson? Tale Time audio stories are a fun way to bring more storytelling into the classroom. We’d love to hear how you used this story and what you thought about it and we’re always keen to improve our resources, please do feedback.
