This outstanding interview lesson teaches year 5 and year 6 children about obtuse, acute and right angles and using protractors to measure angles in maths is designed to showcase your mastery of subject knowledge and effective teaching techniques, impressing any Ofsted inspector. Using the principles of mastery learning and reasoning, this lesson is differentiated to meet the needs of all learners. The learning objective is to accurately use a protractor, with success criteria that include lining up the bottom of the protractor with one of the lines, making sure the corner (vertex) of the angle is in the middle of the protractor, and looking at where the 0 is on the line to use the correct set of numbers. The starter activity invites the children to look at the success criteria and complete a cold task on the screen, while the main activity provides teacher input on what angles are, as well as a discussion of real-life examples and different types of angles, such as right angles, obtuse angles, and acute angles. Children also have the opportunity to play “Simon Says” to identify whole turns, half turns, and 90-degree turns, shouting out the degrees of each angle as they do it. To engage higher ability children, they can complete the Hot Task (input) silently and independently while the rest of the class receives input. Differentiated activities include using angle eaters to measure and identify different types of angles, estimating and measuring angles on worksheets, and exploring the patterns and relationships between angles in different shapes. In the plenary, students will review the success criteria and reflect on their learning, sharing which part of the lesson was the easiest or hardest. A Russian billionaire, Asman Veryrich, has approached you about setting up a new football club! This exciting, engaging investigation activity allows students to control the direction of their own learning, through speaking, listening, discussing, and reasoning. I initially created these resources to provide something interesting for the students to engage with for their English Speaking and Listening discussions, but it has since been used across Maths, Art and Design, and PSHE departments, as well as by form groups and holiday activity groups, to build teamwork and collaboration skills. Students get involved in all of the fun aspects of designing and setting up a new football club, including selecting a team of players, a manager, a stadium, and a training ground. They also design the team's club badge and football kits. They also need to use their skills of literacy to read and understand key evidence, and skills of numeracy to ensure that they keep their expenses within budget! What is more, groups can compete against one another to create the most successful team in the league, as all of the resources that they choose can help them to acquire valuable league table points! Included in this resource pack are: - Full PowerPoint lesson talking students through the process; - An 8 page team booklet, used to create their designs and calculate their budgets; - A pack of 96 player cards and 12 manager cards to select from (a combination of new and classic footballers are included, to ensure that this will never be outdated); - Budget and recording sheets to track their progress; - An A3 football pitch to strategise and select their team. I used this assembly as an introduction to a new whole school drive on improving students numeracy through a tutor time activity called the maths Olympics. The assembly starts with a video which shows photos of a boy from birth to 11. The students were mesmerised by it and it meant they all came in nice and calmly. The assembly looks at the number of days and hours students have been alive and what they have done with their time and focuses on the importance of having a growth mind set to make the most of their time. The assembly lasts around 15 minutes and worked really well. Enjoy

A quick game to use in a variety of ways in the classroom to make a lesson fun! Many sheep will jump over the fence, kids count them and see who's answer was correct.
