This resource includes 2 different styles of yoga movement breaks / brain breaks to be used for the classroom; flashcards or round toppers which can be put on top of pens/pencils/lollipop sticks etc. Students can start to lose concentration if they are sat working at a desk/activity for a long period of time, so introduce some fun and jazz up your classroom with these fabulous yoga movement breaks to get your students engaged and focused again. These can be introduced at whatever time interval you deem appropriate - either 10/15 minutes into a work session or first thing in the morning, after break, after lunch etc.You know your students best and you will be able to judge when is best for them. You can either do all the movement breaks at once, or do one every so often throughout the day or even get students to come up the front and choose a movement break as a reward for good working etc. Many researchers and education specialists have stated that movement breaks and physical activity are a great way to get children re-focused to sit back down for an activity. These come in colour or black and white option. Includes 40 different movement breaks.

Stop the Bus/Scattegories

A game that can be used as a plenary or to identify key terms for a lesson. I often use 'fun' categories, followed by a couple more serious ones. I have included a tutorial of how to play and a blank sheet to print out. Students are required to think of words for each category and as soon as they have filled in all the categories in a horizontal line they need to shout 'stop the bus' everyone needs to put their pens down and they can score points by putting original words in. Teacher or student to pick the letter that the whole class use. Please see tutorial for more detail. Only trouble I have had is trying to score the class as a whole when they play individually. I often just use the person who has said stop the bus first.

PE Key Stage 1 (KS1) Working as a team SOW (Great to use with Autistic learners)

A clear and easy to digest PE scheme of work for KS1 children. This Scheme of work focuses on Partnership skills. Each lesson has a specific LO and Success criteria attached. During this SOW children will self-assess themselves and this sheet has also been attached. This SOW has linked the PE national curriculum aims to each individual lesson as evidence of suitability. This SOW has been used successfully by a qualified PE Teacher in a primary setting. This really is a complete package for delivering a Partner skills unit for KS1 PE. This SOW could also be adapted by a TA easily for autistic children in pairs or small groups.

Yoga I Have, Who Has? Game

(0)
This I Have, Who Has Game, is a fun way for students to work on so many different skills, while also working on yoga skills. This will also double up as a fun, brain break/movement break where you can have your students to demonstrate the different yoga moves that they have on their cards. There are 39 different yoga movement cards included, and a total of 40 participation cards - meaning you could have up to 40 players taking part at once - or you can hand out more than 1 card to students - or get staff members involved in the fun! Yoga moves included are: ♦ Airplane ♦ Archer ♦ Balancing Table ♦ Boat ♦ Bow ♦ Bridge ♦ Butterfly ♦ Camel ♦ Cat ♦ Chair ♦ Child ♦ Child Forward ♦ Cobra ♦ Corpse ♦ Cow ♦ Crab ♦ Crescent Moon ♦ Dolphin ♦ Downward Dog ♦ Dragon ♦ Eagle ♦ Flower ♦ Frog ♦ Gate ♦ Happy Baby ♦ Lion ♦ Mountain ♦ Namaste Kneeling ♦ Namaste Sitting ♦ Rag Doll ♦ Reverse Table ♦ Shark ♦ Swan ♦ Table ♦ Tree ♦ Triangle ♦ Warrior 1 ♦ Warrior 2 ♦ Waterfall Instructions • Print out each of the pages included • Cut out and laminate each of the individual cards so that they will be stronger and longer lasting. • Hand out the cards to each of your students - you can have up to 40 players. If you have less players than this, some students can have more than 1 card (or staff members can get included). • Start with the ‘start here’ card and then have your students read out their cards. EG) I have the first card, who has airplane?" the next student who has the airplane card will respond with “I have airplane, (demonstrate the movement) who has archer?” etc. and this carries on throughout the whole game. This game is going to be lots of fun for your students to provide your students with a movement break / brain break to get them back on track with their work, while having fun and working together as a class. Appropriate for American and British/Canadian etc. classrooms.
