Easter Pack - 2 assemblies and a quiz

(1)
2 assemblies included - 1) The first assembly tells the story of the main events of Holy Week. The angle I have taken is to try and get students to think about some of the feelings and emotions people may have felt when Jesus was in Jerusalem. 2) The second assembly focuses on how Easter has developed over time, its origins and also explores what it means to people in modern times. The quiz is a simple multiple choice double sided sheet that can be completed in class afterwards or as a standalone activity.

Ramadan and Eid ul-Fitr Resource Pack

(0)
The exact dates of Ramadan change every year because Islam uses a lunar calendar, which means that each month begins with the sighting of a new moon. Because lunar months are shorter than the solar months used elsewhere, Islamic holidays begin on different days each year. In 2024, Ramadan starts in the evening of Sunday 10th March and ends in the evening of Monday 8th April. This resource pack has 60 files. It has an excellent range of resources including writing templates, posters, a matching game, fact cards, key questions and many activities and worksheets. There are also card templates and worksheets to compare different celebrations. There are photographs, borders, labels and titles that will enable you to create an instant, bright and informative display. This resource is designed for Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 pupils. This resource pack will be most relevant to teachers, trainee teachers, child minders and home educators. This resource pack will save you hours of your own time so don’t try to reinvent the wheel – we’ve done it for you! Easter Assembly - Good Friday - Making Sacrifices

(0)
This is a plan for an assembly on Good Friday, with a focus on the theme of making sacrifices. There is an optional PowerPoint on the Good Friday story included. The plan is easy to follow and requires no resources, so is perfect for using at the last minute! I like leading assemblies that are interactive, engaging and relevant to the children’s lives. So this assembly involves you telling an anecdote about a recent event, as well as asking for volunteers to perform a school scenario. Children are encouraged to use these stories to think of small sacrifices they can make for others in their own lives. This is then linked to Jesus’s sacrifice on Good Friday. There is a lot of opportunity for children to think about their own experiences and to feedback. There is also an example prayer/reflection to finish with. A version of the Good Friday PowerPoint story is available separately: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/good-friday-presentation-11542698 You might also be interested in my Good Friday KS1 Lesson Plan: tes.com/teaching-resource/ks1-easter-re-lesson-good-friday-11830061 Good Friday KS2 Lesson Plan: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/good-friday-lesson-plan-easter-ks2-11515866

This is a plan for an assembly on Advent, with a focus on preparing for Christmas. There is an optional simple PowerPoint on Advent traditions included. The plan is easy to follow and requires no resources, so is perfect for using at the last minute! I like leading assemblies that are interactive, engaging and relevant to the children’s lives. So this assembly involves using an anecdote about a December when you prepared for Christmas in all the wrong ways. You can use the example in the plan or use an anecdote from your own childhood. The children are then encouraged to think about how they can prepare for Christmas by thinking about others. There is a lot of opportunity for children to think about their own experiences and to feedback. There is also an example prayer/reflection to finish with. Multiculturalism & Celebrating Other Cultures [Philosophy Boxes] (P4C) KS1-3 Philosophy - Debates

(5)
The Philosophy Boxes Method is a new approach to P4C designed for students in KS1, 2 & 3: it is graphically stimulating, engaging, and fun. This download is also suitable for older students: but the format was designed with younger students in mind. The topic of this Philosophy Boxes download is “Multiculturalism & Celebrating Other Cultures”. The aim of Philosophy Boxes is to bring philosophy and critical thinking into every subject at every level: we believe that any subject becomes philosophy when students are asked the right questions and when they think about a topic hard enough and on the deepest (most fundamental) level. The Philosophy Boxes Method presents students with a set of ‘mystery boxes’, when a student selects one of the boxes they are presented with 1 of 21 discussion/debate activities [that use 1 of 8 different formats]. The presentation has integrated AfL so that teachers can test knowledge at any point in the lesson. There are 10 different AfL slides to choose from. The design is colourful, animated, fun and engaging: all activities require movement and teachers can decide whether students are expressing their ideas purely verbally or by using post-it notes. The nature of the design is that it can be used for short sessions (5-10 minutes) or much longer sessions (up to 2 hours!) - it allows for classroom practitioners to be flexible and adaptable. It can, therefore, be used in lessons or as a tutor-time activity. The download includes a PowerPoint Show; if you would like an editable PPT presentation so that you can make your own ‘Philosophy Boxes’ presentation you will need to download the template here: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/-the-philosophy-boxes-method-template-for-creating-your-own-philosophy-boxes-lessons-p4c-p4k-11463227 A complete selection of Philosophy Boxes lessons can be found here: https://www.tes.com/resources/search/?&q=philosophy+boxes+godwin86 You can also save money by purchasing lessons as bundles.

The Good Samaritan Assembly/ Collective Worship!

(0)
This engaging and original assembly/ collective worship session aims to provide children with an understanding of the parable of The Good Samaritan, with a key focus on its moral meanings and how they can be applied in modern life. The colourful and comprehensive presentation guides children through: -Considering the meaning of the terms ‘parable’ and ‘Samaritan’; -Understanding the context of Samaritans and Jews in biblical times; -Reading the story (using the script provided - this works best when children read/ play the different roles); -Demonstrating an understanding of the parable by answering questions about the plot events; -Reflecting on the deeper meanings of the parable; -Noting how ‘people walking by’ still exists in the modern day (perfectly shown using a video - hyperlinked); -Considering how they can apply the key message to their own lives; -Participating in song and prayer. This worship session is tried and tested, and has always been really well received in the past. The slides are visually engaging and well-presented, and the subject matter is tailored to the interests and needs of young people. If everything is kept in, it takes around 30 minutes to deliver, but you may choose to edit or amend some elements of the session. All links to videos/ hymns are included in the PowerPoint as hyperlinks. No further resources are required - everything that you need to present the session is included!

This is an assembly on Palm Sunday, with a focus on the theme of choosing the right path over the easy one. There is a 4 page pdf plan and a 31 slide animated PowerPoint presentation. (This is not editable. Click 'Read Only' to open) I like leading assemblies that are interactive, engaging and relevant to the children's lives. This assembly involves an anecdote on a childhood squabble and how it can be hard to do the right thing. You can use the example in the plan or use an anecdote from your own childhood. This is then linked to Jesus' entry into Jerusalem. There is a lot of opportunity for children to think about their own experiences and to feedback. There is also an example prayer/reflection to finish with. The plan is easy to follow and requires no resources, so is perfect for using at the last minute! Both the plan and PowerPoint can be used on their own or together to suit your needs. You can also jump to different sections of the PowerPoint. A Christmas Toy Story (KS1 Nativity Script)

(2)
This is a great Nativity script about a shelf of toys learning about Christmas. So it includes the traditional story but with a modern twist! It has ideas for some traditional and more modern songs which suits all ages. It includes simple stage directions and has 72 parts so can be used for the whole of KS1. This could even be easily adapted for KS2! It is all in Word so it can be easily adapted for more / less parts by including more / less non speaking or sharing some lines! It lasts for about 40 minutes and all costumes can be easily hand made. If you want any more ideas or have any queries about anything then please just leave a comment and I'll get back to you. I can give more ideas for the costumes we made. I have included the a casting list to make it easy to cast your parts and I have also included a programme to hand out on the night of the show. All you have to do is copy and paste your casting list. Any feedback is appreciated and I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
