Bubble Writing - Handwriting Scaffold UKS2

(10)
Bubble writing - cursive handwriting scaffold Like many primary school teachers I have tried a variety of handwriting schemes with varying degrees of success. Having thought through many common problems with handwriting I have developed a simple scaffold that places a bubble either side of the line to support letter formation. This simple scaffold provides a guide to consistently form cursive letters and ensure each letter is uniform in both height and width. Children are able to leave equal spaces between words and see clearly whether or not there is enough space at the end of each line for the next word they intend to write. There has been a huge impact within my class in a very short space of time and I hope you will see similar benefits within your own setting. Included is a PowerPoint presentation including words from the Year 5/6 spelling list that can be printed as a handwriting pack for children to work through. Blank slides enable you to add words to suit your needs and finally 2 different sized PDF scaffolds that children can use to write on (If photocopied the bubbles will disappear to leave the writing that has been completed.)

Harmful Gender Stereotypes in Society

(1)
Positive Male Role Models - Addressing Harmful Influences and Gender Stereotypes. In this lesson, students will explore the positive qualities and characteristics to consider when choosing a role model to emulate or be influenced by. Created to counter the harmful views propagated by online influencers such as Andrew Tate, this lesson empowers children to become critical consumers of information, rather than accepting online hearsay as fact. Intended as a gentle precursor to secondary school topics of misogyny and toxic masculinity, this lesson reminds students of their previous learning on gender stereotypes and applies this knowledge to new scenarios related to harmful gender stereotypes. While this lesson does not explicitly name Andrew Tate, we will apply our critical thinking skills to an age-appropriate selection of Tate’s quotes without crediting him as the influencer (please note that we have been careful to select examples that include no sexual references or violence). This lesson is suitable for students in UKS2 (Year 6) or possibly LKS3 students in Year 7. Who are EC Resources? EC Resources are a group of teachers who work together to create easy to use, high quality and editable lessons and units of work. We have created lessons for The Bank of England, The British Legion, The Children’s Commissioner, MACS Charity, Tes, LikeToBe Careers, the Criminal Cases Review Commission (UK Gov) and have also completed PSHE and Citizenship commissions for schools across the UK. Year 6 Arithmetic Tests with answers, written to fit on one A4 page. Based on KS2 SATs Arithmetic Papers. I use these tests as revision for my Year 6 class. After much searching, I couldn’t find any Arithmetic practice tests that fit onto one page (to save on photocopying!), so I decided to make some. Each test fits on to one page and comes with the answers. They are all based on KS2 SATs Arithmetic Test questions. The tests download in both PDF and editable Word formats. There is also a front cover, which I use when putting all the tests into a booklet, so my class can keep track of their scores improving. I hope you find them useful and it saves the trees/you some photocopying time!

Maths Game for Year 6 SATs Arithmetic

(0)
Arithmetic Master is a game I use with Year 6 in the last few weeks before the SATs. You know how it feels - when you’ve done past paper after past paper and you still need to work on retrieval but you need some ENERGY! This is a quiz which involves partner work, peer support, team names and unlimited points and my children LOVE it. Covering all of the Arithmetic question areas from Paper 1 in a quiz format. • Children work in pairs for this quiz. • For each section (PPT slide) each child will be given 2 to 3 minutes (your discretion) to answer the questions independently on their own piece of paper. • The next 2 minutes will be sharing and discussing answers with their partner. • Before sharing, they will need to decide upon a final answer as a team. • This is great for peer work, talking through HOW they came to their answer. • Points are decided by the teacher: correct answers; superb explanations; good behaviour; staying focused. • I also deduct points to maintain behaviour management: shouting out, arguing etc. I find that the children learn very quickly that it’s all a bit of fun in the midst of all their revision and behave well beyond the first couple of deductions! • Having ultimate power over the points also ensures that you can award points to children with low self esteem who need the boost. There are over 20 colourful question slides, each containing at least 6 Arithmetic questions. This quiz can easily be broken down into sections, over several sessions . I show this as a PPT presentation and everyone looks at the main smartboard but I have also included a PDF in case you need to print out or Air Drop questions. Another PPT and PDF contains the answers which I use as a class so I can see what everyone is getting out of it, what my areas of need are, giving out points and also to keep up the energy. However, this could also be used for self marking. I really hope you and your class enjoy this resource as much as we do!

Bundle: Magnetism and Electromagnetism Topic

6 Resources
A bundle of complete no-prep lessons with tasks, answers and unique exam questions covering the entire Magnetism and Electromagnetism topic for AQA GCSE (9-1) Combined Science (6.7) and Physics (4.7). Note: The first two lesson (Magnets & Magnetic Fields, and Electromagnets & Electromagnetism) were rewritten and improved in March 2024. I am currently improving and updating the rest of the lessons in the topic as well and of course purchasers will be able to download the new versions for free once they are available. As always the preview video for each lesson shows a representative sample of slides from the resource so that you get a good idea about what you’d be buying. I make high quality no-prep lessons so busy teachers can teach outstanding lessons without spending hours planning. Each high quality lesson includes explanations, different types of in-lesson assessment (all with answers) and unique exam questions. The lessons go into a lot of depth and take learners on a journey that builds up their understanding step by step. As a Secondary Science teacher and Deputy Headteacher for (too many) years I make resources that I know just work: teachers can pick them up “off the shelf” and teach an outstanding lesson that children will learn from. Each paid resource has a preview video so you can see a sample of what you’d be buying for free. I keep my prices reasonable for what are guaranteed high quality lessons that will save you a huge amount of planning time. Each lesson typically contains: Starters - usually more than one so you can extend the lesson over two lessons if needs be. Explanation slides in “chunked” sections with animated diagrams. Editable diagrams and animations which help aid understanding. Multiple questions in different question styles and difficulties - no need for worksheets. Most “chunked” explanation sections include a set of “learning check quick questions” followed by a set of in-depth questions on the learning from that “chunk” of the lesson. Exam-style questions on the whole lesson at the end of the lesson- these are uniquebased on real exam questions but not just copied from exam boards. Answers for all questions All easily editable to adapt to your teaching or to use in existing lessons.
