This is a Power-Point with over 100 slides on Shakespeare's The Tempest. There are resources and activities included within this. It is aimed at low ability KS3 and was made for special needs groups (Autism, Dyslexia and ADHD, predominantly) but easily differentiated. Whilst a text can be read alongside, this unit focuses on very short extracts to help students understand character and theme - whilst making it as accessible as possible to those who struggle. It is recommended students watch the play initially to help develop their visual understanding and then re-watch clips to support what they read. The activities are included and worksheets can be printed as individual slides. This can easily be adapted to challenge students further - and some suggestions are made in the notes section.

Colourful semantics to go with 23 CVC words. I split these into 4 words per week (one week, has 3 words) and we work on spelling these words and using them in sentences, but this can be easily adapted if you wanted to use more words per week. I have included colourful semantics boards, from the basic Who, What doing, What, to more complex Who, What doing, What, Where, Why. I have laminated these for my class and differentiate so some of the students complete only the 3 word sentences and some complete the 4 or 5 word sentences, but using the same pictures. I have included 3 pictures of examples of students using the boards and words (I hav blanked out student names)

Originally made for KS3 SEN class for students of pre key stage level (p scale). Sentences to go with each page of the book to describe what is happening. Images from the book or photocopies can be used to sequence parts of the story and describe what the character’s are doing. I have also included a template that can be used alongside images from the book to create a sentence, with the colours there as a guide for lower level students, or students new to colourful semantics. I have included a page of ‘little words’ or white words that can be cut up and slotted into the colourful semantics to create full sentences for students of a higher level. There are also communicate in print supports for adjectives that can be used for higher levels as well. Eg: The brave mouse climbed on the dragon’s tail.

I created this resource as I was struggling to find a word bank suitable for secondary school students, so this is suited for AQA Language Paper 1, Section B tasks, but could also be used across other phases and exam boards. Prints A3 size so that all words are visible, the categories are divided into colour-coded sections for sensory language, setting, colour and characterisation. There are a variety of different sentence structures to help develop children’s writing. It starts with building a sentence using the colour and then going on to writing the sentence with the ‘little words’ added in. This is a multi sensory, plain English version of The Little Mermaid. The story is based on the Ladybird Favourite tales version. It has been rewritten in simple language. The equipment is detailed so you can make a shopping list! The multi sensory elements are described throughout the story, but feel free to adapt to suit your needs, or if you have a better idea! I will be using the resource with secondary age, SEN (SLD / MLD/ complex needs) students for Literacy lessons. The ‘chapters’ are quite short, so each chapter can be used as a sensory story. There are a range of different activities but most are literacy based questions that involving comprehension of what has happened in the film up to that point. It can be split over a few lessons if needed. The powerpoint presentation is an 83 slide comprehensive look at the novel of James and the Giant Peach. it looks at the Author, Character, novel cover, different settings, plot, writing conventions, and theme. All the main characters and settings are covered over a few slides each and you can use the proforma that is included in this to help students to answer questions about the different settings throughout the book. There is also a proforma for the character slides should you choose to use it, it also includes aspects of the writing conventions. This is a great complement to a study of the novel and film that will allow you to differentiate the task for a variety of levels of ability.

A total of 50 comprehension worksheets (24 differentiated worksheets for 6 nursery rhymes and 36 differentiated comprehension worksheets for photos). In the 36 photo worksheets: 12 for lower abilities- find, cut and stick from a choice of 4 answers. 12 for middle abilities- find, copy and extend. The start of sentences are modelled and lines are already in place to practise writing on the line. 12 for higher abilities- students should be encouraged to write full sentences independently. Lines are in place for practising writing on the line. The 6 Nursery Rhymes are: The Grand Old Duke of York, Row Row Row your Boat, Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, Humpty Dumpty, Itsy-bitsy Spider and Hey Diddle Diddle. There are 6 storyboards for all students to order events from the rhyme, then 6 worksheets for lower abilities- choosing an answer from a choice of 3 and circle/point/say the correct answer. 6 worksheets for middle abilities- choosing a correct answer from a choice of 3, then copying the answer, practicing handwriting on the lines. 6 worksheets for higher abilities to practice their handwriting, writing in full sentences and using capital letters and full stops. For extension work- ask students to create their own questions, illustrate a rhyme themselves, recite a rhyme or create and illustrate one of their own.

Part of a trilogy this first book takes the readers on a journey to a mythical land of dragons, magic, love and adventure. This pack contains a large powerpoint that goes through every main character and setting in the book, it looks at the makeup of the story including the plot, theme and writing conventions. Approximately 100+ slides. It is a detailed resource that can be split up and used daily over the school term as students are working through the novel.
