This is a multi sensory, plain English version of The Little Mermaid. The story is based on the Ladybird Favourite tales version. It has been rewritten in simple language. The equipment is detailed so you can make a shopping list! The multi sensory elements are described throughout the story, but feel free to adapt to suit your needs, or if you have a better idea! I will be using the resource with secondary age, SEN (SLD / MLD/ complex needs) students for Literacy lessons. The ‘chapters’ are quite short, so each chapter can be used as a sensory story. This lesson is to be taught with Chapter 8 ‘Fourteen Minutes Past Two’ of Private Peaceful by Michael Morpurgo. There is a series of worksheets and a powerpoint presentation to be used during the lesson.
