Year 6 Arithmetic One-Page Tests x 12

(1)
Year 6 Arithmetic Tests with answers, written to fit on one A4 page. Based on KS2 SATs Arithmetic Papers. I use these tests as revision for my Year 6 class. After much searching, I couldn’t find any Arithmetic practice tests that fit onto one page (to save on photocopying!), so I decided to make some. Each test fits on to one page and comes with the answers. They are all based on KS2 SATs Arithmetic Test questions. The tests download in both PDF and editable Word formats. There is also a front cover, which I use when putting all the tests into a booklet, so my class can keep track of their scores improving. I hope you find them useful and it saves the trees/you some photocopying time!

This is a Y6 SATs revision Reasoning treasure hunt. I have taken questions from the Reasoning paper samples, and I have rewritten them. There are 24 Green [easy], 24 Yellow [middle] and 24 Red [tricky] questions. I have laminated them and strung them around the school. It was a little light relief for SATs revision and the children loved it. I have also included the answers. Enjoy!

A set of three SATS style question Games based on Arithmetic, Roman numerals and problem solving questions found in the SATs papers - INCLUDES ANSWERS. Can be done as a independent revision activity or used in boosters. Created by a year six teacher (97% maths at and above expected pass rate last year), maths coordinator and deputy head. Used on the afternoon before the 2018 maths SATS tests and updated in 2019. The games allow the teacher to check the mathematics concept with a SATS style questions. This is designed specifically for revision purposes as I have found my class sometimes fail to retain certain mathematical methods or struggle to use what they know to figure out what they don’t. Requires dice and counters. Please click on my name above for loads of maths, reading and writing resources that are aimed at getting the best out of your year 6 class.

Maths Game for Year 6 SATs Arithmetic

Arithmetic Master is a game I use with Year 6 in the last few weeks before the SATs. You know how it feels - when you’ve done past paper after past paper and you still need to work on retrieval but you need some ENERGY! This is a quiz which involves partner work, peer support, team names and unlimited points and my children LOVE it. Covering all of the Arithmetic question areas from Paper 1 in a quiz format. • Children work in pairs for this quiz. • For each section (PPT slide) each child will be given 2 to 3 minutes (your discretion) to answer the questions independently on their own piece of paper. • The next 2 minutes will be sharing and discussing answers with their partner. • Before sharing, they will need to decide upon a final answer as a team. • This is great for peer work, talking through HOW they came to their answer. • Points are decided by the teacher: correct answers; superb explanations; good behaviour; staying focused. • I also deduct points to maintain behaviour management: shouting out, arguing etc. I find that the children learn very quickly that it’s all a bit of fun in the midst of all their revision and behave well beyond the first couple of deductions! • Having ultimate power over the points also ensures that you can award points to children with low self esteem who need the boost. There are over 20 colourful question slides, each containing at least 6 Arithmetic questions. This quiz can easily be broken down into sections, over several sessions . I show this as a PPT presentation and everyone looks at the main smartboard but I have also included a PDF in case you need to print out or Air Drop questions. Another PPT and PDF contains the answers which I use as a class so I can see what everyone is getting out of it, what my areas of need are, giving out points and also to keep up the energy. However, this could also be used for self marking. I really hope you and your class enjoy this resource as much as we do!

A fun and engaging way to support Year 6 students in the run up to SATS. They can complete the 6 rounds of the quiz individually, in pairs or in teams. Each round has 10 questions and all answers are at the end. I’ve included a purely for fun movie round to help break up the session! Round 1 - arithmetic Round 2 - spellings Round 3 - name the movie Round 4 - punctuation and grammar Round 5 - reading comprehension Round 6 - maths reasoning (73 slides in total. Estimated time to complete = 45 minutes) These styles of quizzes have been incredibly popular with my Year 6 class and have helped to promote a lot of useful discussion around methods, pace and question types.

SATS arithmetic practice 1 | Fun Scavenger Hunt | Year 6 | UKS2 | No prep

Are you looking for a fun way to revise for the SATS arithmetic test with your Year 6 class? Then look no further, this scavenger hunt (based on the 2019 SATS arithmetic paper) will get your Year 6 pupils up and about and revising a range of arithmetic questions. Making maths fun! I’ve used it in two ways: The first way: I hid the 20 question cards around the school grounds and the children had to hunt for the questions and answers. On rainier/lazier days, I shuffle the cards and ask the pupils if they can figure out the twenty question loop. Best of all it’s minimal prep - just print and hide - so that you can chill and enjoy your evening. Example questions: 46% of 350 4/8 of 620 202 x 1000 2/5 divided by 5 7 x 43 **This scavenger hunt is based upon the 2019 SATS paper (I took the questions and changed the numbers). ** Whats included: Instructions 20 arithmetic practice question loop Recording sheet Answer sheet Credits Perfect for: SATS revision A lesson to leave for a cover teacher Intervention groups Similar things from Brown Bear Maths you will love: Scavenger hunt - add and subtract mixed number fractions https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/add-and-subtract-mixed-number-fractions-scavenger-hunt-uks2-12572263 Scavenger hunt - and and subtract fractions with unlike denominators https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/fun-scavenger-hunt-add-and-subtract-fractions-unlike-denominators-year-6-12566945 FREE scavenger hunt - 7 digit whole numbers - year 6 https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/free-scavenger-hunt-place-value-7-digit-whole-numbers-year-6-12566952 Let’s be friends: Twitter: @brownbearmaths Youtube: Brown Bear Maths (coming soon) I hope that this resource brings fun and creativity to your classroom. Year 6 Arithmetic SATs / KS2 Exam Practice: Daily 10 arithmetic + 2 daily reasoning questions

(4)
This resource contains daily arithmetic and reasoning questions for every day in a 6 week half-term. There are 330 individual questions in total. There are 10 arithmetic questions per day (other than Fridays which have 5 questions…I gave my class a little break on Fridays!), and 2 reasoning questions. The questions have been structured to look like the same format as the actual SATs papers. I have found that there is some psychological advantage to this, as the children get used to not thinking of this as being a scary test, but rather something they are used to seeing on a daily basis. Over the course of a week, children will encounter virtually all arithmetic question types (I based the questions on the KS2 papers from 2017, 2018 and 2019). They will also focus on 2 areas of reasoning. The format of the arithmetic questions stays the same for each day of the week: Week 1; Day 1 questions will be the same structure and Week 2; Day 1 questions, and so on. Children can therefore use their previous learning from this resource to aid them. For example, once they know that Question 4 on a ‘Day 1’ is a multiplying fractions question, they can look back at their previous Daily 10s to help them. The reasoning questions follow the same type for the duration of the week, and I have found that this really helps children to answer these difficult questions. For example, in the first week, the first reasoning question will always involve data in a table, and the second reasoning question will be about reflection. This resource does take some time to set up to begin with, but I definitely found it worth while! I set up separate maths books that I called ‘Additional Maths Learning’. Though I have them a little longer to begin with, eventually I gave children 15 minutes to complete their 12 questions: 10 minutes for the arithmetic and 5 for the reasoning. I then spent another 15 minutes going through the questions thoroughly, with children marking and correcting their own work. Although allocating 30 minutes daily sounds a lot, I found this to be more valuable in the lead up to SATs than the actual maths lessons! Children definitely enjoyed these questions in the end, as they became proud of competing with themselves and seeing their score go up. THIS RESOURCE CONTAINS THREE ATTACHMENTS: THE DAILY ARITHMETIC QUESTIONS; THE DAILY REASONING QUESTIONS; AND AN EXAMPLE OF A CHILD’S WORK FROM MY CLASS.

This is a quiz which involves partner work, team names and unlimited points and my children LOVE it. Covering all of the Punctuation and Grammar question areas from SPAG Paper 1 and all areas of Arithmetic from Maths paper 1 in a very welcome quiz format. If you prefer, you can also purchase the Fractions Puzzles Worksheets as part of my Fractions, Decimals and Percentages BUNDLE Print and laminate the Four in a Row boards for regular use. The boards were originally designed in A3 to work especially well with larger groups but you can scale it down to print in A4 if required or preferred. There are 6 game boards, two for each level of challenge, indicated with a star system, with one star being the least challenging. The one star version includes only unit fractions of small numbers. The two star version includes fractions of larger two-digit numbers, while the three star version progresses to fractions of three and four-digit numbers. Students work strategically as pairs against pairs or one against one to get four correct answers in a row - horizontally, vertically or diagonally. They roll a dice each time to decide from which column to pick a calculation (the columns are numbered 1-6). If there are no calculations left in the column whose number they have rolled, they either skip a go or roll again (depending on the rules you choose). Student write their answers on the board with a dry-wipe marker. They can either use a different coloured marker to record answers on the board or add an initial or symbol if using the same colour as their opponent. Answer keys can also be printed for student checking.
