Edexcel GCSE PE Revision Document

(0)
I used this document during a revision session that I ran during Easter half term. The kids loved it! With all information displayed in tables students commented on how easy this document was to revise from and how useful it was on the day. I actually wrote all students names on lolly pop sticks and pulled them out at random when I wanted a question answered. The following topics are covered within this pack: Short term, long term and health benefits of exercise on training (differentiated - one document has key words and the other has complete phrases that the students select) Drugs (differentiated - one document has key words and the other has complete phrases that the students select) Benefits of exercise Influences Reasons for participation Principles of training (differentiated - one document has key words and the other has parts of the table completed. This has an answer sheet too that I used for the students to tick off themselves). Obviously all tables linked to an exam question.

Physical Education non participant worksheet

Designed to aid secondary school PE teachers in giving non participants a productive worksheet to complete if they are unable/it is not relevant for them to coach/umpire during the lesson. The worksheet is generic for any activity and will develop the analytical skills of the pupil. The worksheet will ask the pupil to explore the lesson objectives, the warm up, the coaching points of the skill being taught and to analyse two students of differing abilities. Furthermore, there is a differentiated additional task of designing a new drill/activity with options to increase/decrease the difficulty of the exercise. ** An Ofsted inspector was very impressed with the content of the sheet when questioning a non participant in my group and stated 'an excellent and challenging PE resource for all capabilities' . ** Furthermore, we all have students who like to make up excuses/convince their parents they are too ill for PE so hand you a note to be excused. When they realise there is writing involved in PE each time they manage to be excused from participating they may decide that taking part in the lesson is the a more sensible option! Which is what an outstanding PE teacher should want- all their students to be actively involved if possible.

How to teach an Outstanding- Hurdles lesson (Beginners to Advanced) Lead, Trail and body action

(1)
This resource was used in my performance management lesson observation and enabled me to gain an Outstanding in every category. The lesson objectives of the lesson were: All pupils will understand their knowledge of hurdling technique and how they could make improvements to their hurdling technique. Most pupils will be able to develop their techniques using specific drills. Most pupils will be able to offer insightful evaluations into a partner’s technique. Please leave feedback on this resource so I can make improvements where needed This lesson is suitable to a range of abilities and the differentiation and independent nature of the lesson will allow for progress to be made by ALL pupils. Below is a guide to how to structure the lesson. I printed out enough booklets and had the front two pages laminated in order to re use. Task 1- Reinforce and develop hurdling technique knowledge- Highlight technical points of Perfect Model. Pupils complete task 1 of booklet to identify proper technique (resources differentiated and groups of pupils differentiated due to ability and behaviour). Task 2- Peer evaluation- Watch partner run over 4 hurdles 3 times. Resources are differentiated so lower ability pupils have less components to evaluate. Important that pupils identify a specific area to work on (Lead leg, trail leg or other body action (for high ability)) Task 3- Following the peer evaluation sheets the groups will then decide which area to develop (lead leg, trail leg or other body action) The group then use the drills pack to work on progressively more difficult drills to develop their area of technique. I find pupils get better at this task the more they use this style of teaching (persist with this, it will get better quickly!!) Task 4- Watch partners technique again and look at the area identified for improve. Have they improved and why, is there anything they should now focus on?
