I have created an 8 lesson scheme of work which I will be using after Easter with all of my core PE groups from Y7-9. They are designed to be easily adaptable to allow for changes to be made to suit groups of different abilities / needs. Each practice allows for scaffolding for less able students and progressions for more able students. Each lesson includes a warm up / starter activity, learning outcomes, a skill development practice with progressions and a game at the end. The groups I will be working with will generally be fairly low ability for cricket, which means the main focus of this S.O.W is developing batting and fielding skills. I will develop bowling by using underarm / throw downs / drop feeds if necessary. I will also be using these games and skill development practices with my KS4 groups. Most of the activities in this SOW can be taught in an indoor environment - which is useful due to the weather we are likely to get! We have indoor nets which will allow me to adpat lessons to having some students working on batting / bowling in the nets, and others working on catching skills / fielding on the other side. I have also included some resource cards for batting, bowling and fielding. I don’t often use them in lessons, although some may find them useful.

Designed to aid secondary school PE teachers in giving non participants a productive worksheet to complete if they are unable/it is not relevant for them to coach/umpire during the lesson. The worksheet is generic for any activity and will develop the analytical skills of the pupil. The worksheet will ask the pupil to explore the lesson objectives, the warm up, the coaching points of the skill being taught and to analyse two students of differing abilities. Furthermore, there is a differentiated additional task of designing a new drill/activity with options to increase/decrease the difficulty of the exercise. ** An Ofsted inspector was very impressed with the content of the sheet when questioning a non participant in my group and stated 'an excellent and challenging PE resource for all capabilities' . ** Furthermore, we all have students who like to make up excuses/convince their parents they are too ill for PE so hand you a note to be excused. When they realise there is writing involved in PE each time they manage to be excused from participating they may decide that taking part in the lesson is the a more sensible option! Which is what an outstanding PE teacher should want- all their students to be actively involved if possible.

Students on teachers instructions count their scoring percentage (Max 100%). Students get into ability groups depending on shooting scores from last lesson. These will be made up of 3-4 students. Teacher asks students in their group to answer how many different basketball shots they can name? Set shot, fade away, drunk, lay up What is the most used and most successful shot in the NBA? This resource is used to teach rounders through a TGFU approach. Each game is one lesson. I have detailed each lesson with a diagram. A TGFU approach allows students a deeper understanding through game play. Set the students straight into the games and ask questions to probe learning, for example 'In four ball hit - Where should you be hitting these balls', 'How can the fielders work together to be successful' 'What techniques can a batter use to hit the ball in a different direction'.
