This unit is a series of six lessons and all resources for the UC Gospel unit “What kind of world did Jesus want?” It is based UCGospel Core Learning planning.
Each lesson starts with a sticky knowledge retrieval quiz and vocabulary activity.
Activities include giving up favourite possessions task linked to calling of first disciples; analysis of Matthew 4; mindmap of what it means to be a “fisher of people”; exploration of Leprosy Mission website; comprehension based on Bible story of Jesus healing the leper; discussion linking Jesus healing the leper to Christians today; activity based on modern day church activities linked to following Jesus; class vote activity on the importance of church activities; mindmap on what qualities a church leader needs; designing a weekly timetable for a church minister; day in the life of a church minister; wanted poster for a church leader; detective task linked to Archbishop Sentamu’s dog collar protest against Mugabe; globe activity looking at the way the world is versus how they want it to be; drawing activity correcting a situation Jesus would not want; and final paragraph answering the Big Question “What kind of world did Jesus want?”.
Lessons include videos, group/partner discussion, group tasks, individual tasks and making links to children’s own lives. All resources are included, and there is a printing requirement list for the whole unit. Please note - the SMART and PowerPoint contain the same content, but you need Notebook software to open SMART.
