PEE paragraphs Wonder

This is a resource for teachers of KS3 who need a bit of extra help getting pupils to write PEE paragraphs at this level. It deals with the elements of a good PEE paragraph, breaking down what a point is, looking at how to select appropriate evidence and finally how to explore and analyse the quote in detail. It is based on the novel Wonder by RJ Palacio, but could be adapted to suit another text as necessary. I have used this format with my KS3 classes and the results have been fantastic!

PEE Paragraph Sentence Starters

Used for both Key Stages 3 and 4 in English Language. Designed to be printed double sided (PEE on one side, connectives on reverse, same with writing and vocabulary) for students to use during assessment/guided writing. I have them printed in colour on card and laminated for my classroom and it’s a great resource - just grab them if you need, or distribute to individuals who are struggling. Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

Sentence starters for PEE paragraphs

Gives learners examples of sentence starters and appropriate language to use for each part of the paragraph or essay. For example, how to introduce evidence or an explanation. There are also suggestions for introduction and conclusion language. It helps learners to add structure to thier longer pieces of writing. Useful for English as second language learners and can support less confident writers. It fits on one slide so is easy to display. In my context, it is useful in History and Geography but could be used in any subject requiring more detailed written responses.

PEE and Assessment Preparation - A Christmas Carol

PEE preparation power point for A Christmas Carol. This Power point goes very well with 'The Little Book of PEE For A Christmas Carol' as it takes students through the question they will be answering and includes PEE structures, model paragraphs, and a mark scheme (Based on the new 1-9). However it also works as a standalone resource, as it goes through how to pick out key quotations in a text, and leaves the teacher room to analyse them with the students.
