This connectives / conjunctions poster presents 45 words to help students link sentences – thus making their work more eloquent. A connective / conjunction is a word or phrase that links clauses or sentences. The connectives / conjunctions poster has been created in high resolution – A0 size (841mm x 1189mm) – so that you can use it as a classroom display. However, it will print perfectly well in other paper sizes, such as A4.

This is the perfect resource for teachers looking to build students writing skills across the curriculum. Aiding students in the four key areas of their writing (Openers, Vocabulary, Connectives, and Punctuation) and also addressing a few common writing mistakes, my students now ask for this whenever they are asked to complete writing tasks, in any of their subjects. It is extremely visually engaging, and can also be used as a poster. Nothing needs to be done to this resource. It is already in A3. Simply print off and laminate. Why not have a connective of the day? Can the children use it in a sentence? this powerpoint could be used as starters, morning tasks, fillers or these posters can be used for display in the classroom. Why not have a trail around the school. These posters can be printed smaller than a4 by selecting the handout mode in the print settings. These are great prompts for speaking and listening tasks, debates and writing tasks.

This is a fabulous resource to improve literacy within the classroom. It works well by printing and laminating a set to have available on desks or as a resource to hand out. This resource can be edited for different subjects. The connective mat enables lower ability students to extend their written work and other students to explore a range of connectives to develop their writing style.

This was used as an introductory lesson for Tutankhamun and to test the knowledge of the students of the connection to Howard Carter who discovered his tomb. Students complete this task individually. Was successful in creating a group discussion on the topic itself. It was used in an art lesson but can be translated across many other subjects too.

This book contains ten connect the dot pictures for children of all ages. Connect the dots puzzles can help children to improve their fine motor skills. They will also learn how to grip a pen or pencil. They’ll start to work out how hard they need to press on the paper as they improve their writing skills. In addition, the child will subconsciously learn the number sequence as it need to be followed, even if it is a toddler who is doing the dot to dot under supervision.

Presentation designed to be used in a History or a General Studies lesson. Pupils are presented with 4 significant figures, dates or events from History and are challenged to identify the “common factor”. One simple example could be Abraham Lincoln, Julius Caesar, Mahatma Gandhi and Spencer Percival. The “common factor” being all were assassinated! Presentation can be used in a number of ways. It can be used as a teacher led starter to promote discussion or the black and white printed sheets can be used as homework or to provide a meaningful task in a library/VLE environment. Extension activities include requiring students to produce their own connections challenge. The whole presentation contains 35 slides with hyperlinks embedded throughout.

A starter or a form time activity - get the students talking and discussing what the connecting word is, and what the relevant images are. Great for wider thinking skills and getting the students to question what they are looking at.

Pupils work in pairs to get 4 in a row by giving one aspect from the y axis and one from the x axis. They must also try to block the other pupil. For example, if you’ve used personal pronouns and infinitives, they have to give ‘je regarde’ to get the corresponding square. Class version also available.
