Having thought through many common problems with handwriting I have developed a simple scaffold that places a bubble either side of the line to support letter formation. In this lesson, students will explore the positive qualities and characteristics to consider when choosing a role model to emulate or be influenced by. Created to counter the harmful views propagated by online influencers such as Andrew Tate, this lesson empowers children to become critical consumers of information, rather than accepting online hearsay as fact. Intended as a gentle precursor to secondary school topics of misogyny and toxic masculinity, this lesson reminds students of their previous learning on gender stereotypes and applies this knowledge to new scenarios related to harmful gender stereotypes. While this lesson does not explicitly name Andrew Tate, we will apply our critical thinking skills to an age-appropriate selection of Tate’s quotes without crediting him as the influencer (please note that we have been careful to select examples that include no sexual references or violence). After much searching, I couldn’t find any Arithmetic practice tests that fit onto one page (to save on photocopying!), so I decided to make some. Each test fits on to one page and comes with the answers. They are all based on KS2 SATs Arithmetic Test questions. The tests download in both PDF and editable Word formats. There is also a front cover, which I use when putting all the tests into a booklet, so my class can keep track of their scores improving. Between the ages of 9 and 12, children have to complete Standardised.Assessment.Tests (Sats). To help them practise for these tests, we have produced a new series of comprehension booklets. The Standards and Testing Agency states that the child has 1 hour to complete the test, answering the questions in the answer booklet. Read one text and answer the questions about that text, before moving onto the next text. There are three texts and three sets of questions in each booklet. The tests in this booklet are based on the KS2 Reading Assessment sample papers. It is important to try and complete them in an hour, but it is your choice. Since its release, this book has been a classroom favourite, covering a topic that is never far from the news. Onjali Rauf writes about the topic of migration and refugees fantastically. I’ve taught this scheme three times now to different classes, and each time the children have all cheered at the end of the book (always a good sign that they’ve enjoyed it!) There are 32 lessons in total, all with accompanying SMART Notebook screens, task sheets and header sheets. To aid teaching each lesson, there are a total of 162 SMART Notebook screens (in one file) and each lesson is clearly marked along with which lesson each chapter should be read to aid and link to the learning. (Update - I personally use SMART Notebook files in my own lessons. In response to many requests, I have converted the SMART Notebook screens to Powerpoint, so there is also a Powerpoint presentation included for the teaching sequence for those unable to use SMART Notebook.
