Growth Mindset Poster Train the Brain Wall Display

(1)
This colorful Growth Vs Fixed Mindset Wall Display will encourage a growth mindset in your classroom. They make a perfect reference tool all year round and great when setting up your classroom. The wall display comes in two sizes. A4 and A3. That is the brain is either A4 or A3 size depending on how much wall space you have. Personally I use the A3 brain with the speech bubbles from the A4 set. I have also included a black and white brain for the students to color in themselves. Enjoy.

Assessment Wrappers (Worksheet x5) & Virtual Assessment Wrapper Bundle

11 Resources
This bundle contains all five of our new exam wrappers (aka cognitive wrappers, assessment wrappers). All of these exam wrappers are: A4, double-sided, colour, and editable. We have included both .doc and .pdf versions to aid with printing. This bundle now also includes our zero-print ‘Virtual Assessment Wrapper’ which features fifty slides of student reflection activities for before and after assessments! Exam wrappers foster metacognition in students (i.e. getting to think about how they learn best and what factors are influencing their academic performance) - use of exam wrappers are frequently cited by researchers as an example of effective metacognition in schools. It is widely accepted that the use of exam wrappers is “best practice”, yet there are very few available online and those that exist are often for university students and not suitable for younger people. These wrappers are designed for students aged 14-18 (KS4 & KS5) - and are designed to be fast, fun, and engaging. This download comprises all five of our exam wrappers, buying them in this bundle saves money and the variety of exam wrappers will help students to engage in a broader array of metacognitive reflection activities and help maintain engagement. For your convenience, we have also included some of our other metacognition sample resources in this bundle.

Christmas: Functional Skills English Level 1: Speaking + Listening (2 Discussions With Assessment)

(1)
This resource consists of two speaking and listening discussions for Functional Skills English Level 1. It is for staff use, providing a topic for a discussion and a checklist to assess the pupils progress. Although this assessment follows the theme of Christmas, it can easily be edited for any topic and used multiple times. There are two pages for each activity, one for teachers to assess multiple pupils and one for assessing one pupil which can be placed in this pupil’s file. The first discussion asks pupils to imagine that they are arranging a charity Christmas dinner. As a group they must discuss what food and drink to serve, what activities to put on, where to hold it and what charity to raise money for. The must make a final decision as a group to end the discussion. The second discussion poses the question, “Is Christmas too commercialised?” In a group, students must discuss this question and come to a group conclusion. This discussion is linked to our Christmas Functional Skills English Level 1 reading resource. Both discussion should last around 15 minutes, but it depends on the number of pupils involved. Please look at our other Functional Skills Christmas resources ranging from Entry Level 1 to Level 1 and including reading, writing and speaking and listening activities.
