Space Assembly Script - EYFS/KS1

(1)
An editable script for a space-themed assembly for younger pupils. Features two songs for children to sing and 30 separate speaking parts (though these are easily combined should you have children who do not wish to speak). The basic premise of the assembly is that two children in the class want to go on holiday to space and so listen to some facts about the eight planets to help make their decision. They don’t want to stay on planet Earth because it’s too messy! In the end they realise that the other planets would not be great holiday destinations because they’re too hot/too cold/too rocky/too smelly! They choose to stay on planet Earth but realise that they have to help to look after it to keep it a nice place to live. We had great success with this assembly in Reception last year - the children (and parents) loved it - and it’s easily edited to make it work for other classes.

Help your students recall the phases of the moon in a hands-on way with this set of differentiated foldouts. The finished foldouts look great in an interactive science notebook and can be used to support learning around space, the solar system, the Earth’s moon/lunar phases or for World Space Week. Plus it’s a little different to a standard worksheet! The phases of the moon in this resource are as seen in the Northern Hemisphere. This printable activity has 4 options for you to choose from so that you can best match the needs of your students: Template 1: Colour the phases of the moon, cut, glue and fold. Year 2 Living in Space Comprehension / World Space Week

(1)
This resource is a non-fiction comprehension activity for year 2. The theme of the comprehension is ‘living in space’ and the booklet covers what it is like for astronauts living in space stations, including what they eat, how they sleep, how they exercise and what they do in their spare time. It would be perfect for using during ‘World Space Week’ in October, during a space topic or during ‘Science Week.’ The booklets are based on the KS1 SATs reading paper. I have included 3 differentiated levels. There are a range of ‘what,’ ‘where,’ ‘how’ and ‘who’ questions, some multiple choice tick questions and some that require more detailed answers. The activity is also laid out in a similar way to the SATs booklets. There is a title page with helpful words followed by four pages of pictures and short written extracts to read and 4 questions per page. Each differentiated level contains 16 questions in total. There is a colour and black white PDF version of the booklet for each level and answers are also included.
