Celebrating Differences Assembly!

(0)
This fun and original assembly aims to assist children in celebrating the differences between themselves and others, through: -Understanding how diversity is needed in the world; -Recognising and valuing the differences in their own school; -Considering how kind words can help us to unite together. I love leading this assembly, because I feel that the key message within it is so vital, especially in the present climate. More importantly, wherever I have presented this (to a wide-range of students from a wide-range of contexts) it has always gone down extremely well, with students being extremely engaged and informing me of the different ways in which they have celebrated differences in the months that follow! The slides are visually engaging and well-presented, and the subject matter is tailored to the interests and needs of young people. For example, there are references to Prince Harry, Emma Watson, and others in popular culture, to help engage the children in the idea that each individual has their own strengths, weaknesses, like and dislikes, no matter who they are or how successful they appear. There is also an exciting ‘toothpaste challenge’ included, which demonstrates the importance of ensuring that our words to others are kind and respectful. The challenge includes a hyperlink to a countdown clock. In addition to this, all other resources that you will need are provided in the pack. The slides are fairly self-explanatory, but I’ve included guidance notes to assist the speaker. Hope that you find this useful!

Holocaust Memorial Day Assembly

This assembly resource has been created with KS3 and KS4 secondary students in mind to be delivered on Holocaust Memorial Day (27th January). This resource has been created on Microsoft Powerpoint Teacher Notes have been added to the notes section underneath each relevant slide on the Powerpoint to support with the delivery of the content. I am a history teacher and the content of this assembly resource is an extension of a type of activity that I would deliver to my history students when teaching the holocaust. This assembly resource offers a brief exploration using skills of inference of a historical artefact and relies upon student contributions through teacher questionning. A link to a Youtube video has been provided as part of this resource (please ensure you have access to youtube prior to use) This resource also makes reference to the 2024 Holocaust Memorial Day theme of ‘Fragility of Freedom’. The utmost care has been taken to ensure this resource has been created with the utmost respect to the victims of the holocaust and to ensure that students have the opportunity to connect and empathise to the human beings to whom the attrocities of the holocaust were committed. There a no images or corpses in this resource - however the murder of victims is discussed. I really hope you enjoy delivering this assembly and that your students find it engaging and valuable. If you are able to leave a review once you have taught it, I would be really grateful. Teaching Holocaust in history? Check out lessons from my scheme of work! Outstanding Y5/Y6 Maths Interview Lesson - Angles

(0)
Have any issues with this resource or a request? Contact us directly for the quickest response at: explore_education@outlook.com Are you teaching year 5 or 6 children (UKS2) about obtuse, acute, and right angles and how to use protractors to measure angles in math? This outstanding interview lesson plan is perfect for you! This outstanding interview lesson teaches year 5 and year 6 children about obtuse, acute and right angles and using protractors to measure angles in maths is designed to showcase your mastery of subject knowledge and effective teaching techniques, impressing any Ofsted inspector. Using the principles of mastery learning and reasoning, this lesson is differentiated to meet the needs of all learners. The learning objective is to accurately use a protractor, with success criteria that include lining up the bottom of the protractor with one of the lines, making sure the corner (vertex) of the angle is in the middle of the protractor, and looking at where the 0 is on the line to use the correct set of numbers. The starter activity invites the children to look at the success criteria and complete a cold task on the screen, while the main activity provides teacher input on what angles are, as well as a discussion of real-life examples and different types of angles, such as right angles, obtuse angles, and acute angles. Children also have the opportunity to play “Simon Says” to identify whole turns, half turns, and 90-degree turns, shouting out the degrees of each angle as they do it. To engage higher ability children, they can complete the Hot Task (input) silently and independently while the rest of the class receives input. Differentiated activities include using angle eaters to measure and identify different types of angles, estimating and measuring angles on worksheets, and exploring the patterns and relationships between angles in different shapes. In the plenary, students will review the success criteria and reflect on their learning, sharing which part of the lesson was the easiest or hardest. The resources for this lesson include a PowerPoint, protractors, angle eaters, cold task, show it tasks, table display, and challenge tasks. Overall, this lesson is a strong example of how to teach a complex mathematical concept while promoting mastery and reasoning skills, making it an excellent choice for showcasing your teaching abilities during an interview or impressing an Ofsted inspector or SLT observer. Ideal for a 30 minute-1 hour lesson. uks2 ks2 problem solving reasoning finishing exit tickets greater depth exceeding observation
