This is a very supportive strategy as it breaks the day down into simple stages and helps to alleviate anxiety. Simply attach a piece of velcro to the now and next areas. This is a Power-Point with over 100 slides on Shakespeare's The Tempest. There are resources and activities included within this. It is aimed at low ability KS3 and was made for special needs groups (Autism, Dyslexia and ADHD, predominantly) but easily differentiated. Whilst a text can be read alongside, this unit focuses on very short extracts to help students understand character and theme - whilst making it as accessible as possible to those who struggle. It is recommended students watch the play initially to help develop their visual understanding and then re-watch clips to support what they read. The activities are included and worksheets can be printed as individual slides. This can easily be adapted to challenge students further - and some suggestions are made in the notes section.

The files you will receive have been designed and written by myself from my research and knowledge around the subject. All graphics have been produced by me, including page design and individual blocks This is a Lego therapy resource pack which is designed to aid any practitioner to successfully deliver a course of play sessions. The core contents of the pack can be tailored to different age groups or abilities by the practitioner. It has twenty-four different pages which contain a brief introduction and then explains each team member’s role and job description. It also has visual images to aid with colours,** shapes** and questions that could be asked to help the children engage and communicate with each other. The intervention Who is if for? This Anxiety and Worries Group intervention is for a group of up to six children and is led by a teaching assistant. The focus age range would be 7 to 11, although older pupils would probably benefit from this intervention. Children who worry a lot would be a good focus group for this intervention. It runs for approximately 40-60 minutes, weekly for six weeks. What does it cover? This Anxiety and Worries Group intervention covers emotions, relaxation, calming down techniques and learning objectives around anxiety and worries. Children will learn about emotions during each session and will also learn relaxation and calming techniques through the ‘relaxation time’. This knowledge and these skills will help them to become more emotionally literate. The warm-up games teach a variety of skills such as co-operation, team work, taking turns, communication skills, friendship, self-esteem and confidence. The coming together of a group fosters a sense of belonging and therefore raises self-esteem. Every opportunity should be taken to promote belonging and friendship. Relaxation exercises will help children to manage their anxiety and these are visited each session. Information on Anxieties and worries It is important to mention that anxiety is such a big problem and affects people in different ways and at different things. Sometimes there appears to be no reason for the anxiety. This intervention is about giving children the knowledge to help themselves and to gain a little understanding about what anxiety is. It is NOT about fixing children’s problems but about supporting them through their problems. Anxiety work needs to be done by professionals who have training in counselling or psychology. An ELSA or TA can offer knowledge and support and it is important that this line is not crossed and boundaries are clear. By giving children the self-awareness, knowledge and some relaxation skills you are empowering them to help themselves cope. Executive function is the brain’s ability to manage tasks effectively. I made this resource to create an executive function display in my classroom. This supports all of the pupils in my class but was designed to help my neurodivergent pupils specifically. My pupils complete the assessment rubrics so they know what their strengths are and what they need to work on. I find it useful to refer back to with the children. Pupil’s have free access to the display, they can help themselves to a strategy whenever they feel they need to. I have provided timers, blank timetables, to do lists, emotion wheels, calming down strategies etc… and the pupils just help themselves. This resource consists of two speaking and listening discussions for Functional Skills English Level 1. It is for staff use, providing a topic for a discussion and a checklist to assess the pupils progress. Although this assessment follows the theme of Christmas, it can easily be edited for any topic and used multiple times. There are two pages for each activity, one for teachers to assess multiple pupils and one for assessing one pupil which can be placed in this pupil’s file. The first discussion asks pupils to imagine that they are arranging a charity Christmas dinner. As a group they must discuss what food and drink to serve, what activities to put on, where to hold it and what charity to raise money for. The must make a final decision as a group to end the discussion. The second discussion poses the question, “Is Christmas too commercialised?” In a group, students must discuss this question and come to a group conclusion. This discussion is linked to our Christmas Functional Skills English Level 1 reading resource. Both discussion should last around 15 minutes, but it depends on the number of pupils involved.
