These are the final 2 lessons in a set of 13 based around Hazards for Key Stage 3. Lessons are designed to last 1 hour and should provide a challenging introduction to Hazards. L12. Wildfires: covers definitions, location, causes, fire triangle, types of wildfires, and briefly introduces students to the impacts of wildfires. L13. Managing Wildfires: Knowledge test. Covers managment techniques, mainly through a Decision Making Exercise in which students work in teams with a set amount of money and options to select in order to save a town from a wildfire - teacher plays through scenario on board and clear instructions/timings are provided in the ‘notes’ section of the powerpoint. Discussion task and extended writing to review the task. Lessons have weblinks and resource sheets attached to powerpoint. Tasks have green pen answers to support marking and feedback.
