Creative Writing - Art & Literacy - Henri Rousseau

Develop descriptive and creative writing by asking your students to look at the detailed work of Henri Rousseau. This resource includes a lesson plan, and within a presentation an introduction to Rousseau's work. The presentation then gives an example of how to fill in the worksheet. The worksheet is a metacognition task which asks students to look at the artwork, write what they can see and then what they are 'thinking', 'wondering' or 'feeling'. A selection of three Rousseau artworks are also within the PowerPoint ready to print off. A great resource to get your students creatively writing. To make it clear, this is not a presentation on Rousseau, I'm just using a PowerPoint to hold the activities. The PowerPoint is 6 slides long. Slide 1: Front Page Slide 2: Introduction to Rousseau with facts. Slide 3: A Rousseau artwork to use with the example worksheet to demonstrate what you would like students to do. Slides 4 - 7 Artworks to print off.

Develop descriptive and creative writing by asking your students to look at the detailed work of Pieter Bruegel. This resource includes a lesson plan, and within a presentation a fun starter activity which looks at Bruegels 'Netherlandish Proverbs'. The presentation then gives an example of how to fill in the worksheet. The worksheet is a metacognition task which asks students to look at the artwork, write what they can see and then what they are 'thinking', 'wondering' or 'feeling'. A selection of three Bruegel artworks are also within the PowerPoint ready to print of. A great resource to get your students creatively writing. To make it clear, this is not a presentation on Bruegel, I'm just using a PowerPoint to hold the activities. The PowerPoint is 6 slides long. Slide 1: Starter Activity including some info on Bruegel. Slide 2: A slide with animation that looks in detail at 'Netherlandish Proverbs' Slide 3: A Bruegel artwork to use with the example worksheet to demonstrate what you would like students to do. Pointillism Eiffel Tower Project

Pointillism Eiffel Tower Project

(2)
This creative project teaches students about Pointillism, Seurat and colour mixing. It is flexible in length and could be completed as quickly as 1hr 20 mins. If students draw their own Eiffel Tower, or if you include some of the suggestions on the end of the lesson plan, it would be 2 to 3 hrs. It starts with Students looking at a PowerPoint on Pointillism focusing on Seurat. (9 slides) It includes a script and looks at: A definition for Pointillism Seurat & Signac How the Impressionists influenced them. Two of Seurats paintings in detail. Pablo Jurado Ruiz, a contemporary artists who used pointillism today. How to mix colours using Pointillism. There is then a worksheet where students can practice mixing colors with dots. This is an attractive worksheet which would look great in a sketchbook or as a display. Students are then asked to recreate Seurat’s Eiffel Tower. More able pupils will draw the Eiffel Tower. Less able, or younger students, will place their dots over the faint image of the Eiffel Tower. An extension task is suggested as well as other ideas to extend the project e.g. finding France on a world map and Paris on a France map. I am always looking to improve my resources, so if you have any suggestions please leave them in the comments box.

Metacognition I'm Thinking

A metacognition worksheet that could be used for numerous projects. I have uploaded it in colour and black and white. I have used this where they read a text and then fill this in. I have also used this where they look at an artwork (I used a Bruegel which depicted a busy social scene) and then filled this in. This worked really well.

Easter Counting, Addition and Subtraction Activities

3 Resources
Save 42% Easter Counting A simple PowerPoint for reception counting, with an Easter Theme. It includes a sheet for children to write their answers on and a sheet of answers for the teacher. I have done this as a class and in small groups. Sometimes just counting as a class, sometimes recording answers. Easter Addition A bright and appealing Easter presentation to learn addition to 10. 10 slides show ten sums which when you click reveal the answer. Easter Subtraction In this 10 slide PowerPoint the naughty Easter bunny keeps taking the Easter items! (Eggs, rabbits, baskets etc). Children have to calculate how many items will be left after they are told that naughty Easter bunny is going to take certain number of Easter items away. The Easter bunny bounces onto the slide and the items disappear! Great fun!
