The Cross and the Switchblade is a book written in 1962 by pastor David Wilkerson with John and Elizabeth Sherrill. It tells the true story of Wilkerson's first five years in New York City, where he ministered to disillusioned youth, encouraging them to turn away from the drugs and gang violence they were involved with. In 1972, the book was adapted into a comic book published by Fawcett Comics under their Spire Christian Comics label.

A British man who saved 669 children, most of them Jews, from the Nazis has been awarded the Czech Republic's highest state honour. Sir Nicholas Winton was 29 when he arranged trains to take the children out of occupied Czechoslovakia and for foster families to meet them in London. The 105-year-old was given the Order of the White Lion by the Czech president during a ceremony at Prague Castle.

The sweets were originally called 'unclaimed babies', invented in 1864 by an Austrian man working at Fryers of Lancashire. In 1918 they were produced by Bassett's in Sheffield as 'Peace Babies' to mark the end of World War I. Production was suspended during World War II due to wartime shortages. In 1953 the product was relaunched as 'Jelly Babies'. In March 1989 Bassett&'s were taken over by Cadbury-Schweppes.
