I have trialled the teaching of BTEC TA Digital Information Technology during 2017/2018 and have produced the attached ‘placemats’ to ensure that students understand the key skills required for LAB/C and the knowledge required for the research task in Component A. Either print double-sided, laminate or simply display/view on screen. On side A is the LAA theory looking at sectors of industry. On side B is the LAB/C skills in Excel. I have used them laminated, 1 between 2 and supported the Excel element with short tasks that teach students the skills as listed in the specification. Using a model of 15 minutes theory and discussion, followed by practical creation of a user interface in Microsoft Access, this unit helped my Year 9 class to understand the concept of user interfaces as an introduction to the BTEC TA in DIT. Includes - discussion tasks linked to specification, home learning tasks and practical tasks in Access.

Memory Joggers to help students think about the long QWC questions. Use the card size memory jogger for a carousel paired activity, and then use the questions as a follow on written activity. I hope this resource can assist in final revision for the Unit 2 Business Finance exam. Good luck.

Inspired by a Sunny May Day bank holiday on 7 May 2018! Recapping theory of Business Finance looking at the ice cream sales of an ice cream van man and woman. Names of students can be altered to suit your class, but animated so that questions come up one by one and follow on from each other. Simple answers in the notes section.

A simple resource to help students remember how to convert from Hexadecimal into Decimal number (denary), and from Decimal number (denary) into Hexadecimal. As there are no calculators in the exam this year, it would help if students could refer to the 16 times table quickly when converting.

Each revision lesson gets the students working independently for the first part of the lesson, followed by a review of the answers. A specific area of Component 1 is then revised, and the lesson concludes with a QWC question.
