This lesson explores the Christian attitudes towards war and looks at the Just War Theory. It allows pupils to explore the apparent contradiction in religion (‘Thou shall not kill’) with the Chrsitan support for wars. It is an interstimng lesson full of activities that gets pupils to empathise, but also reflect on what they value and what they believe to be true. An interesting, fast paced and challenging lesson.

A useful lesson that teaches the students how to use scale on a personal, local, national and international level. This lesson is aimed at KS3 but could easily be adapted for KS2 or KS4. It is a skills based lesson focused on encouraging students to learn how to use scale on different levels.

This is a clever lesson where the students are introduced to human rights and have to imagine a word where the students take place in a market place activity to buy and sell human rights. This is an essential lesson for every KS3 student! An excellent lesson that teaches the students where to find many of the key features of the world (oceans, continents, mountain ranges etc.) as well as how to accurately describe their location. A useful lesson especially for students who think Africa is a country!

This lesson was created for use in a KS3 Buddhism unit but could easily work in any RS unit of work, or indeed a PSHE unit. It tells the story of a young lady at an airport who jumps to the wrong conclusion when she doesn’t have all the facts. It’s told through a series of pictures and is a beautiful was to reinforce the message that a parable can be a highly effective way of getting across an important message. The pupils then have to create their own parables (there is a guide and some ideas to help them). This lesson can easily be extended to two or three lessons with extension activities (such as turning it into a role play, or making it a cartoon, or a presentation). A fun, fascinating and fantastic lesson.

This geography lesson gets the students to think about what a place actually is. It is designed to kick off a year 7 or 8 unit looking at geographical skills. The students are asked to consider: -What makes a place -What their place is like -What the difference between human and physical geography is. An excellent lesson.

This lesson covers the Golden Age in Germany from 1923 to 1929 under Gustav Stresemann. It explains the key treaties signed in that period, why they were important and what their impact was both short and long term. It also has a clever device that will aid pupils in their revision of this period. A useful and interesting lesson.

It also features a well planned booklet that the pupils can complete to demonstrate their understanding of British Values. This resource is highly versatile and is suitable for use with KS2, 3 or 4. The activities are fun, active, engaging and challenging, and will help to develop the pupils knowledge of what British Values are and why they are so important. The PowerPoint is designed to be used with the attached booklet and contains a variety of activities including: key words, posters, poetry, general knowledge questions, links to highly relevant clips and critical thinking questions. This has been hugely successful in my school at improving the pupils knowledge of British Values and improving their understanding of why they are so important. It comes highly recommended and has been shown to have a measurable effect on the pupils knowledge of British Values. This resource can also be used in lessons such as PSHE as an activity or as a starter/plenary.
