I love resources that ensure all pupils are able to access & feel confident within lessons. It makes me sad when a pupil feels stressed because they don't get it. I love hearing a pupil say "I am on it miss". All resources for main part of lessons are differentiated to 3 if not 4 levels of progress. Starters are mixed ability so that I can get pupils to feel confident in areas they struggle on. Any queries please email me; shacostello@gmail.com

Perimeter - Thoughts and crosses (differentiated worksheet)

(3)
Resource; Perimeter of shape- Thoughts and Crosses. Could also be treated as perimeter– differentiated worksheet. Contains; 1. 16 questions on thoughts and crosses, moving from foundation level to exceeding. 2.Cross Curricular link encourages literacy with the pupils, pupils speaking to each other and explaining to how solve problems (this is a massive focus in our school). 3. 16 solutions provided. 4. Set of instructions to ensure the task runs smoothly. 5. Printable version – white version to save on cost. PDF version can be used to present on whiteboard. Printing Tip: This resource has been designed to display on board or print on A4. If you wish to print, select ‘shrink’ or ‘print to fit page’ (or fit to page option on your print settings) in order for it to print correctly on A4. File Type; PDF Idea behind task; To develop pupil’s mathematical discussions and thinking/reasoning skills. To encourage pupils to think about what they are writing down in the exam. By speaking to their partner it means their explanation and answers must make sense. Good practice for the exam to ensure they show full working out and to check their answer makes sense. Allows pupils to move from finding the perimeter of basic shapes to compound shapes and then linking it to algebra to really push those pupils who have grasped the task. Year 11 pupils are using this to revise all of perimeter(basic shapes, compound shapes, worded problems and a link to algebra) and it is getting them to think of perimeter in many different situations. Expanding Double Brackets _ Treasure Hunt

(1)
Resource; Expanding double brackets – Treasure Hunt. Could also be used as a Expand a double bracket differentiated loop card resource if it is not suitable for a class to complete as a treasure hunt. I tend to use as a loop card particularly with year 11 for tasks and revision. Contains; 1. 10 amber cards/questions. 10 green cards/questions. 2.Cross Curricular link encourages literacy with the pupils, mathematical discussion in pairs on how to solve problems around the classroom (this is a massive focus in our school). 3. 20 solutions provided within task itself. Each card is beside that answer to make it easy for you to check when pupils say they are finished. 4. Set of instructions to ensure the task runs smoothly. Printing Tip if using as a treasure hunt: This resource has been designed to display around the classroom. You will need one copy (I like to have in colour, but can be black and white) to put up around the room. Print on A4. If you wish to print, select ‘shrink’ or ‘print to fit page’ (or fit to page option on your print settings) in order for it to print correctly on A4. Printing Tip if using as a loop card: You will need a number of copies, depending on class size, one pack per table. You could decide who was completing amber and who was completing green beforehand so you knew how many sets you needed. (I like to have in colour, but can be black and white). Print on A4 but I would shrink, two A5 pages per A4 to save on printing costs. If you wish to print, select ‘shrink’ or ‘print to fit page’ (or fit to page option on your print settings) in order for it to print correctly on A4. Idea behind task; To develop pupil’s mathematical discussion skills. To encourage pupils to get involved, engaged in task. To encourage mathematical discussion within the classroom. Watch pupils get motivated while consolidating learning – quick way to get pupils to engage in task and complete questions in a short space of time. Ensure pupils can expand a single bracket. Used to introduce expanding a single bracket, use as a gap task for those getting it wrong in the exam or use as a revision tool coming up to exams. Check the preview!
