Introduction into watching Hotel Rwanda on DVD. Students work out which human rights are applicable to them in school as well as viewing some of the more viewable pictures from Rwanda in 1994. There is a link to the BBC website with a compilation of news audio clips from 1994.

A bit of a work in progress as it still looks complicated! The aim is to create a step-by-step guide for students studying Music Theory to work out whether an interval is diminished/minor/major/augmented. Still a work in progress but any advice on how to make it look easier would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

This includes: what the students are required to do, how to achieve top marks for developing/exploitation/structure, how to start various styles of composition and how to develop them. Example images of compositions provided, Shoenberg chord chart for working out what appropriate chords to use and Sibelius shortcuts.\n\nAny feedback on what can be added would be great, this is a working document and has been for a few months!

This is an example African composition score with 'notes&' on the score to highlight how the piece is put together. This is a fun game as part of the end of a lesson or start to look at composers with KS3. Pupils have to work out the composer/band/singer from pictures e.g. the example is a picture of a door handle; from there the pupils 'say what they see' and work out it's Handel. Others include Liszt, Chopin, Oasis, Jessie J, Britney Spears and Black Eyed Peas. Any feedback you have or other musicians I could add in would be great, thanks!

Useful as either a start into the piece, a revision or halfway through a scheme on Capercaillie. The Year 10 document can be either a Year 10 or a differentiated Year 11 copy. Any feedback would be great, thanks! There are all kinds of other things to be added on to there but it was put together rather quickly!

A range of activities for my Year 8 form to teach them about what the Chancellor does, what are his responsibilities, and for students to work out what they would rank as the most important area for investment to be made e.g. health, education, transport, housing etc. Students then have the chance to work out how much of the budget they would spend on different areas, what the effects of cuts would be and to see the sharing of England's revenue for the 2012 Budget.

Useful for a quick revision of how to use Sibelius - follow the simple steps to recap basic functions of Sibelius. Other steps can be added, deleted, edited etc.

A quick quiz on A Day In The Life made up of facts mainly from the AS Music Study Guide. Can be used with anthologies to get pupils started on this piece or without as a revision topic in preparation for the exam.

An A4 sheet of key features of styles of music - cut the sheet up and have pupils put them together. Can be used either as a starter or as a revision part of a lesson. You can edit/add/delete features to tailor it to your class.

A worksheet of associating certain instruments with heroes or villains. It doesn't contain any links to tracks but you can use certain film and TV theme tunes to use for associations. For example, Double Bass - Jaws - Villain. Trumpet - Indiana Jones - Hero. Any feedback would be great, thanks!

Useful for improving numeracy of students; task is to count the amount of accents, find the bar of a certain word, count the beats of a certain syllable etc. Handy to use as a starter to introduce the new work. Lots of other items can be added.
