Story Starters for writing lessons in the classroom. They are all for writing in the third person (ie they all contain the names of other characters, rather than using 'I') Print these out and laminate them back-to-back. Hand them out (or children can 'lucky-dip'). Students can then choose which story starter interests them the most and use that one to begin writing in their exercise book. Collect them in and use them again another time. 8 A4 sheets with 8 story starters on each page (total 64).

A fun activity for your students when studying geometry or cultural celebrations such as Diwali (The Festival of Lights). Students use the grid lines and lines of symmetry to help them draw the pattern in the other sections of the circle. The lines are light grey and they will become less visible after colouring. Word mats and word cards for words at the Magenta to Orange level of the colour wheel. Word Mats: * provided in black/white or with a coloured border. * one A4 size mat for each level. New Zealand Handwriting/Printing Copy Cards The font used is the 'New Zealand Basic Script'. The letter shapes are identical to those recommended in the NZ Ministry of Education Handbook - ‘Teaching Handwriting’. Students look at the card and copy one line of each letter/word into their exercise book. The last word on each card is a place in New Zealand. A suggestion is for early finishers to locate the place on a map. A great activity that supports oral language development. Toss a coin and then roll a dice to find a topic to talk about. Talk to a buddy, small group or whole class. Can you talk continuously for 30 seconds without pausing or saying ummm, ahhhh, etc? 6 charts with 12 topics on each card (72 topics altogether) 1 chart with 12 topics that are broader (suitable for less able students).
