Cardinal Cones is an OAA task which involves the cardinal points (North, East, South, West). The master map should be used to set up cones that have the corresponding numbers written underneath. Ensure that you know north so it works in real life. Students start at the starting colour cone provided on the sheet, they then follow the directions and note down every number found. Once completed and reached the other side they must total all the numbers. Once completed they must get it checked with the answer sheet provided by the teacher, teacher signs it off if correct and they move onto the next one. There are 3 easy, medium, hard and super hard levels of difficulty.

1 Minute Fitness Challenge

This is a simple 1 Minute Fitness Challenge. There are several exercises provided and more could be added. Students work in pairs, individual stopwatches can be used or a timer on a big screen or IWB. One partner counts the other and swap over. It can be used in a fitness SOW or is also used during wet lessons when we can’t go outside as this can be done within a classroom.

Cardinal Routes Task is a lead on from cardinal cones. Students should now be aware of the cardinal points and can use it to create a route around your school. The 8 starting locations can be edited to suit your school environment. Students then work in small groups, they choose a starting location then add the direction and count the steps/until the next landmark or location. Once the route of their choice is completed they must test it and ensure it is correct. Either in the same or next lesson they then randomly swap papers with another group and attempt to complete the route provided. Once all instructions are followed then write what they think is the end location and the other group confirms if it is correct or not.
