Countdown Maths Game

Simple clone of the countdown numbers game on a powerpoint slide with the music imported from youtube. Dark blue boxes are the large numbers. Pale blue are the small numbers. Click 6 boxes to reveal the numbers and then press the Red button the generate a target. There are 2 timers to choose from - I tend to use the 60 second for my classes. Press Reset to start again (The 1st blank slide is essential for this button to work; my powerpoint skills could not come up with a more elegant solution) Make sure you enable macros. Feedback is welcome and appreciated!!! Thank you

GCSE Maths Foundation Revision Mats

Taking inspiration (and hopefully not resources) from finbutler999’s fantastic revision mats I developed more for my own classes. Each mat is an opportunity to summarise key knowledge of a subject and practice exam style content. I recommend printing double sided. It is still a work in progress but so far covers: Data & Probability Averages from Tables Averages from Grouped Data Algebra Plotting Linear and Quadratic Graphs Equation of a Line Number Percentages Interest (Simple and Compound) Shape (my classes were not create with shape…) Angle Facts Angles in Parallel Lines Angles in Polygons Area and Perimeter Volume and Surface Area Transformations (Reflection and Rotation) Transformations (Translation and Enlargement)

Scale Drawing & Bearings - Map of Europe

(0)
I wanted to make a more interesting scale drawing activity for my higher attaining students to practice using scales and bearings. This is a blank map of Europe that the students need to populate with various capital cities using the given bearings and scales. It is relatively* accurate in how it represents the relationships between the cities, although I would not use it as an atlas. It is quite a challenging task but I have found the students enjoy giving it a go and it takes up most of the lesson. It is always interesting to see where the various cities end up - usually Athens get placed in the Mediterranean! Enjoy.

Red & Black Maths Game / Investigation (Percentage Multipliers)

(0)
A very popular version of a game I was introduced to on a course a few years ago (I have forgotten the course) that I always use to introduce percentage multipliers. This is NOT my original idea but I did create this lesson plan to deliver it. Ask the students to choose the order to turn over red and black cards in order to make money. They start with £100. A red card gives them half of their money on top of what A black card takes half of their money. It leads to an interesting discussion about percentage multipliers and the nature of multiplication. You will need 5 ‘red cards’ and 3 ‘black’ cards to use as props though the colours are not important. Feedback is welcome and appreciated.
