A set of short listening exercises (and one writing exercise) on the topic of descriptions in Spanish, including physical description, personality and also describing pets. The exercises include dictation, ‘bad translation’, sentence matching and a guided writing task.
Two sentence builders on the following topis: giving opinions on one’s job / work experience, and describing a past work experience + a jumble activity to go with the past work experience SB.

A 3-page worksheet / activity sequence explaining how to use the pronouns en and y in set phrases for the topic of free time / hobbies / les loisirs / le temps libre. Ideal for helping pupils to integrate these into their writing to score higher marks for complexity / use of ‘complex structures’.
The principles for how en and y work are briefly explained, but the pronouns are mostly practised in the context of useful phrases on the topic, including with negatives and time phrases.
There is also a stage combining them with the present tense with depuis to enhance the complexity of students’ sentences.
Activities include a brief grammar explanation to read, a matching task, a teacher-led listening, multiple-choice, translations and a writing task.

Suitable for KS4 French or very able KS3 pupils as extension work.

Intended for the study of films in Spanish, this handout provides introductory steps to analysing film, and a comprehensive glossary of vocabulary in English and Spanish with detailed explanations and examples. The examples relate to the Almodovar film, Volver, but the principles can be applied to any film. It is roughly aimed at students studying for A-Level, Pre-U or IB (aged 16+). Whilst this resource is designed to provide information, you can also create activities from it, for example, by mixing up the Spanish and English words to match up, or match words to definitions. Or, you could assign different students certain terms and ask them to produce a short analysis of these aspects in one key scene to present to the class.
Sentence unjumbling task can be done orally as per instructions on slide 1, or printed and done in writing. Or pupils can write answers on mini whiteboards and do it live. Vocab is on topic of describing people. Can be done as a quiz or competition.
Listening gap-fill activity to practise vocab on describing people - read out the transcript included and pupils fill in gaps. Afterwards you can ask them true or false questions about each of the descriptions, or they can write their own true or false statements for each person. Following this, you could give them the same blank copy and repeat the activity but substitute the gaps for other vocab to practise!
Scaffold / writing frame for basic descriptions of family members in Spanish - vocab included to help. This activity would need to take place after pupils are familiar with the vocab in the boxes at the top - they are just there as prompts.
