Activities based on the Alfie and Annie Rose stories by Shirley Hughes. The first activity is for the children to describe both characters, and the second is for the children to retell the story of Mr McNally's hat in a story-map style.

3 x differentiated activity to help children practice their data handling skills. LA children have a poster of aliens to count, sort and record on a bar graph. MA children have a larger selection of toys on a poster to tally then record on a bar graph. HA children have higher numbers of different types of food on a poster to tally then record on a bar graph. There are also questions on the data for the children to answer afterwards.

A quick and simple science investigation to show how plants use water. Just cut the end off a piece of celery and pop it in some red or blue food colouring - Eventually, the celery will have a red or blue tint as it absorbs the colouring, particularly on the end. We left it over the weekend to ensure nice bright results, but overnight would probably work too.

The story of King Arthur displayed on a PowerPoint. I used this for a year 3 class for our Myths and Legends literacy unit. We went on to plan and write our own adventure stories based on Arthur.

I made a 'character drawer&', full of brightly coloured laminated well known characters (from children&';s literature, Disney, Pixar, etc), and a 'settings drawer&', full of laminated A4 sheets showing all sorts of different settings, including photographs, animated and multicultural scenes. The idea is that children choose a character/characters and a setting, and write an imaginative story or some sentences. I also included tiny flashcards saying each of the characters names, so the children can match up the pictures with the words.

Differentiated activties to allow children to practice finding halves and quarters of 2D shapes and numbers, and then a follow up lesson in the same format to allow children to find quarters of 2D shapes and numbers.

My class 'received&' a letter from Captain Pete Pigeon, during our literacy unit on writing letters. We wrote back to him on the &';scrolls' and it made a really nice display, along with the old fashioned map, compass and title.

I made this resource to help my Year 1's become familiar with matching up lower case letters to their equivalent capital letters, by matching the ice-cream to the correct cone.

I made a Powerpoint to tell the story of The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein. The story has a powerful message about friendship and being selfless, as well as being kind to others. I have also uploaded a simple worksheet that my class used as a story map, recreating the story in a comic strip style.

I created this PowerPoint to teach the Homes from the Past history unit to my Year 1s. It contains teaching material such as photos and captions, links to interactive websites, etc. At the end of the PowerPoint is a small unit on Homes around the World, a geography unit.
